Khronic January 25, 2009

The hedgehog mentioned before has been released into an old graveyard. No he isn’t dead, but that’s where he lives now. Quiet and sheltered, free of predators and full of bugs and places to sleep. Mum says he shall do fine. I’ll have to take her word for it.

Here’s a Metallica song with THE MOST epic ending I have ever heard. It’s about Nuclear war.

Hedgehog January 22, 2009

I have at this very moment a juvenile hedgehog on my leg trying to sleep under my arm. Me and Kieran found him while we were walking around town in the usual fashion. In broad daylight. He’s not sick. In fact I have absolutely no idea what’s wrong with critter. He seems perfectly healthy and like most hedgehogs, he is not diseased. Possibly his parent(s) were hit by a car and he had no where else to go and was hungry. Poor thing. He’s pretty much my pet until this is sorted out. The cats won’t bother him, he’s so pointy. He’s also hard to handle, but as long as he isn’t curled up and you hold him right it doesn’t hurt. His name is Khronic or Sonic Khrushchev. Khronic was scared of us at first like most animals, but soon he was used to humans.

I really wish I knew what to do with him.

Walking and Dancing January 21, 2009

After a long hard day of exercise, I have come crawling back to my computer and my to blog. As usual I have been walking all around town, buying junk food occasionally, talking to friends and playing on an Xbox 360.  I was thinking that in a free market society I have no choice but to conform or fail. I have to buy food from big companies who pay their staff minimum wage and if I want to use the internet I have to use things made by Dell, Microsoft, Compaq and Comep. I’m surrounded by brands and advertising. Everywhere I go and everywhere I look in my house, they’re trying to sell me something. Most everywhere in town its the same. No one complains about it much, we were brought up with it. We shouldn’t be used to it and we shouldn’t have to tolerate it. This is not the way things should be.

I also went Salsa dancing. Turns out to really not be my thing. It requires memory, coordination, balance and fitness, all of which I lack. Alot. However I am comforted by the fact that there was at least one person doing worse than me. Poor Kieran seemed to need more help than anyone else. It didn’t help that he was male, so therefore was leading. Actually that may have been why he was doing worse than me. I’ve always been embarrassingly awful at these kinds of things. Comes with being dyslexic/dysparaxic/whatever the F I am.

A commie.

Google; Master of the Internet and World Corporatocracies (as seen in WALL•E) January 20, 2009

Google is a large and powerful internet company, it owns Youtube and another 50 internet companies listed here:

List of Acquisitions by Google.

and it looks like they’re not slowing. Who’s next? Yahoo will be a challenge to buy as it nearly as rich and almost bought Youtube. And you should be worried, if the Google managed a monopoly over the internet you’d have to tolerate terms much worse than it’s current User-End Agreement:

“By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any content which you submit, post or display on or through, the services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the services and may be revoked for certain services as defined in the additional terms of those services.”

See: Terms of Service

If it could get that far, Google would eventually own everything from Wikipedia to Word Press (what I use for my blog). A few renegade sites that refuse to be bought would be ‘dealt with’ and all new websites would be owned by Google.

A terrifying prospect until you realize that there’s more to life than the internet and go outside to play in the leaves. Most things sort themselves out, one way or another.

Also if you have watched WALL•E the story plays with the idea of a corporation that owns the world. There’s no profit from the point you ‘buy’ the last country. It would be impossible to buy the whole world, some places and people won’t be bought for anything, you have to take it by force. Then if you hold the entire market and are the entire market, there is no motivation and the money does not move. Everyone works for you and no one outside the company would have any money, because no one would be outside the company. You would have to provide everything for everyone. If it was done well (as in, we need workers and workers must be healthy to work, so we must take care of them. Not; yay! Money! Screw you we have we want, now do what we say!) then all and all it would be extremely similar to communism.

Do not fool yourselves people! Civilization is fragile, held up by people and their beliefs. Look at the recession! Captialism at the stage I described is almost the same as world communism. Thinking that they are so different is only valid to a point. If Google owned the world, what would become of us? Only God knows.

All up my advice would be to be careful when you use Google services.

Hypocrisy of Church (specifically my one) January 18, 2009

If this gets me into trouble, then so be it. It needs to be said. Our church claims to be unified, to co-operate with other Christian churches in the area. Indeed, it co-operates with some. There is still the matter of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Their ideas are different and strange, but still towards Jesus. Incorrect by some standards, but there is not unity between the two Churches of Christ. I, in fact, remember anti-Jehovah’s ‘propaganda’ being dished out at one point, while at my local baptist. The Mormon ideals are even stranger, I have less information, but the basics of Christianity are there.

That is not the worst of it. The worst is that they co-operate with the Catholic church, whose theocracy is as bad as any other church. Praying to saints, confessing to priests and chasing the pope. Where’s God in that sentence? The pope is just a man, a human like anyone else. He is not superior. He is simply a political/religious figure head. The only good a pope does is use his position in the world like John Paul, who played a massive role in the fall of the Soviet Union and communist power in Poland (From Wikipedia; “He has been credited with being instrumental in bringing down communism in Eastern Europe“) He is a politician. Yet in spite of all these things the Protestant church will work with them. Why? Because they are more popular, not better at all. Ancient and rotting, the beast refuses to die, because of conservative old men who stick to tradition and refuse to move forward, refuse to accept advances in society and technology and then teach the habit to their children. To cling to that is to deny change and future.

Frost/Nixon a Review January 17, 2009

Frost/Nixon was a most excellent movie, with brilliant acting and set up as part documentary with most of it reenacted as movie. To most people it would be boring, especially anyone my age. But the story was like that of David and Goliath, a typical talk show host versus the ex-American President, a political and intellectual giant who was fighting with everything he had to regain his career. Only one could win and take the glory they hungered for. The tale was more epic and absorbing than any car chase or gun fight or sword dual. They fought each other with words. They watched and analyzed each other’s subtle body language, with friends and colleges for advice. They could not fight with weapons, so they used their mouths. They had to out think each other. The person who did the research held the power. He had the information. I intend to buy the movie as soon as it comes out. The only problem I had was that Nixon looked more like Brezhnev. All in all I give this movie 9/10. One point taken for the guy not looking anything like Nixon.

On Stalin and Strange Thoughts

This unusual comment is from Khrushchev in Love the blog that inspired me to make my own blog (and because Dad was nagging me).

NSFW!

You’ve been warned

On Stalin.

Young Stalin, I’m embarassed to say, was a total DILF (Dictator I’d Like to Fuck). That may be the most uncomfortable sentence I’ve ever typed.

Stalin = hot!

Day of Books January 16, 2009

It seems that the new Valkyrie movie is causing quite a stir. There was an article in the New Zealand Herald today on how Hitler was a book fanatic (reminds me of someone…). They were his life. He was an artist and a poet. He was also Bat F Insane. Come to think of it Mao was a librarian and he killed more than Hitler or Stalin. Goes to show; crazy people read books. Tormenting them and calling them nerds is probably very unwise.

As a communist I often find myself having to deal with Nazism and Nazis (eg on Facebook), who despise communists almost as much as Jews. Communist and Nazi are NOT the same. They are entirely different. At one point at a friend’s house a couple of old winos were there for dinner. The man asked me if I was Mormon because of my hat. I denied this and clarified my religious view as Protestant. He then asked in a dreaded tone if I was a communist. I said yes, of course. He was horrified and told the other one, a large old woman with thin wispy hair, that I was a commie. She gave me a look you’d give to a large slimy spider that had appeared above your face while you were in bed. So as not to upset my hosts, by upsetting his other guests, I tried to fix it and said;

“It’s not a bad thing.”

They did not agree. I spent a large amount of time trying to change their ideas, which were cemented into their ancient minds. Its something I enjoy doing. Opening people’s eyes, so they think from another perspective and don’t live in their little holes. Just when I thought I had them convinced, I picked up my much loved Khrushchev book and sat it on the table ready to leave. The old man said;

“Is that Mein Kampf?”

“No no no no no no!” I exclaimed.

“Oh, its Khrushchev.” He said disdainfully. I was not at all insulted by the man’s somewhat rude comments. It just went to show that he wasn’t terribly bright. I thought the whole ordeal was hilarious. I try to look at life that way.

Also today we went to Borders to buy some books. There, proudly displayed on big shelves for all to see was the latest capitalist powered rage. The Twilight series. Following in the footsteps of Eragon and Harry Potter, this book is exploding with popularity that will be forgotten in ten years, like an old rapper, unless more horrifying and low quality sequels bring it back to life. And how the fans will rush for it. Like black magic arousing the dead from their permanent sleep to bring forth an army of brain dead zombies (a good use for my crossbow). Already, (even worse) a disgusting Hollywood movie has been made of them. Vampires, werewolves, magical abilities, BS.

Anyhow, there I saw tonnes of Sci-fi books consisting of dragons. Blatantly similar to The Dragonriders Of Pern. Some people have no imagination. I went and bought a couple of classic Terry Pratchett Discworld books with original art work as the artist is now dead and Eleanor advised me to. Also a book on my hero’s hero. Although it is dangerous to have a such a book on my shelf and people will make assumptions on my political view immediately if they ever saw it, I think it is important for me to fully understand that time and Stalin himself . However to balance everything out I got a book by Robert F. Kennedy about the Caribbean Crisis for another perspective. I try to be open-minded.

First! January 15, 2009

Well well, my first blog post. The site will be changed soon to suit it’s name and my tastes. I will state now that all my posts will consist of nothing I wouldn’t mind my parents finding out about. Mostly.

The more recent events I can recall include my step-father slipping on the steps outside our lounge, badly injuring his leg. I flew up to Auckland on Thursday to see my Dad and my 80 pound pistol crossbow finally arrived in my home town. Which means that I have to wait two more days to even lay eyes on it. Apparently no license or age is required for any regular crossbow, yet they can be much worse than air guns. I have warned my parents they are not to touch it, and that there will be severe consequences if I’m ignored. Hopefully my bother and sister haven’t got it into their minds that because I forgot to mention them when I said no touching, that this means that they can be the parent’s eyes and hands or their own for that matter. Yes, that means absolutely no one is to put their mucky paws on it, ‘till I say. No one. Not even Khrushchev. I intend to reduce the population of cute fluffy things in my region with it, as this summer is extraordinarily… Productive. Rabbits, rats, mice, magpies. Plenty of targets.

Today I again smelt the smell of the salty sea. I can still taste it on my lips. I realize every time I come up here, how much I missed being near the ocean. I grew up here, when you went to a large body of water there would be shells. Not so in the Waikato (that rhymed!) I miss being able to pick some pretty one and take it home to a large collection of pointless annoying objects. When I left Auckland, I left childhood and the memories of it. When my body moved, my mind followed. I only truly understood this when I was looking though old photos yesterday. I regained a connection I had lost (mostly because I have an awful memory) with my childhood. The old sea takes me back to those days when life was very simple, free and full of bliss. I always wanted to be older then, so people would take me seriously. No regrets from those days. People still don’t take me seriously, however. Ah well. Time moves forward, I cannot slow it and I cannot make it go faster.

Also I got smacked in the face with an oar. Not hard enough to take out teeth, but enough to make blank out a second (that’s bad in the water). It was an accident. I was too close to a dingy and a somewhat large and heavy man jumped out, which forced the whole thing backwards and I got a paddling to the right side of my face. Good times.
